PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

And no, you don’t have to be “advanced” to take it – it’s designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Diver Course. The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your PADI instructor. This course builds on what you’ve learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving.

You can complete most of the academics for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification online. You’ll have access to all of the required and elective dives available through Toucan Dive.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver NavigationDuring the Advanced Open Water Course

You’ll hone your skills by completing five adventure dives that introduce you to:

  • Underwater navigation
  • Deeper water diving (typically anywhere from 18-30 metres/ 60-100 feet)
  • A sampler of three more Adventure Dives of your choice

As a certified diver, you’ve already discovered diving is more than an end in itself. Scuba diving is a vehicle to a wide range of activities and skills that create adventure, fun and recreation for a wide variety of people. You may have an interest in taking photos or shooting video above water, and maybe you want to bring that hobby underwater. Maybe you enjoy exploring National Forests or geo-caching. Those interests may translate to underwater adventures including wreck diving or search and recovery.

That’s what the PADI Advanced Open Water course is all about! Giving you a taste of different underwater activities, while improving your foundation skills and making diving more enjoyable and safer for you and your buddies.
