Toucan Divers Getting Ready For Mermet Springs

Good Times At Mermet Springs

Mermet Springs provided a wonderful opportunity for our divers to start the season early.  The visibility of the lake was 10 to 15 feet, and the water temperature was in the upper 50’s.  We were in Southern Illinois, near the city of Paduka, Kentucky. The weather cooperated on Saturday with temperatures soaring into the mid to upper 70’s.  Everybody enjoyed the 727 jetliner which we use to do our PADI wreck diving classes.  Some of our divers had fun feeding the very large catfish that abound in Mermet Springs.  The barbeque was terrific, with lots of barbeque pork chops, hotdogs, and lots of snacks.  No diver went hungry!

Mermet Spring Coming Late Summer

Don’t miss out on joining Toucan Dive when we return to Mermet Springs on the weekend of August 15th and 16th.  The temperature of the water above the thermocline is 85 degrees.  You can literally go diving in your swimsuit and rash guard.  The water will be so warm and wonderful.  You just have to remember to stay above the thermocline.  The water temperature will drop 10 degrees, as soon as you go below 18 feet.  Check out the gallery of our fun event below:
