Roatan Adventure 2018toucan2.roatan.2018

The Dive Your Plan took place at the Coco View Resort on the island of Roatan, Bay Islands.  Roatan is 30 miles off the coast of Honduras.  Its coast line is dotted with small fishing villages and towns. The island is long and narrow.  It is twenty-eight miles in length, and has a total land mass of forty-nine square miles. This mountainous region is surrounded by beautiful coral reefs.

The Diving

Scuba diving and snorkeling draws tourists and divers from all over the world to Roatan.  Why? Because it is home to the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world!  It is known for its world class diving!  For Toucan Dive the adventure of what’s below, drives us to the water day in and out.  Better yet, having fun with friends, finding new discoveries on every dive, keeps us coming back for more!  Large and small animals are seen here.  Seahorses and nudibranchs to eagle rays and turtles assaulted our senses!  The 100 ft visibility made our viewing day fantastic!  Beautiful sponges, pastel soft and hard coral provided a plethora of stimuli for eager photographers.  Diving on the CocoView and Newman Walls created beautiful and exciting experiences for all our divers.

Our Beginning Dive

Our trip began with a checkout dive on the shipwreck, The Prince Albert.  Covered with seahorses, it is a fantastic wreck!  The wreck resides right in CocoView’s front yard. Through soft seagrass meadows we swam to the Prince Albert.  It lies upright on the sea floor. Eagle rays greeted us with continual summersaults.  Entertaining as this was, the sea floor was also alive with garden eels and yellow- headed jawfish.  Numerous peacock flounder blended in with the seafloor. Our subsequent dives consisted, as usual, a morning dive on Newman’s wall followed by a drop off and swim back to the Prince Albert and then to CocoView Resort, followed by an hearty lunch prepared just for divers. The afternoon dive was on CocoView wall followed by a droff off and swim back the Prince Albert.  Repeat as necessary!
