Why Ice Diving?  Ice Diving

Ice Diving  is an incredible opportunity to try diving where no other divers tread –  under the ice!  We are talking about an unusual, and sometimes, challenging environment, but one that reaps awesome rewards.  Being under the ice is an incredible experience.  The light filters through the ice, giving the underwater landscape a very other worldly feel.  Play with your bubbles as they form along the bottom of the ice.  The animal life underwater moves much slower, if not at all.  So you can get up close and personal with your favorite bluegill!  Join the thrill seekers who find the excitement they need under the ice.  For those that are not PADI Ice Diving certified, here’s an opportunity to take the Padi Ice Diving specialty certification.

Who Should Take This Course?

You will need to be PADI Advanced Open Water certified.  Be at least 18 years old, and ready for some fun and excitement.

What Types Of Skills Will You Learn?

Ice diving requires teamwork, and cannot be done alone.  Knowing the “ropes” as they say, will give you the necessary skills to be successful in this unusual surrounding.  You will learn about the necessary preparation to set up and get geared up.  You’ll learn about site selection, the effects of cold, and emergency procedures.  You will also learn:

  • Using specialized ice diving equipment and safety lines.
  • Signals and communications along with line tending and line-securing techniques.
  • Handling problems and safety diver procedures.
