Cozumel – “Toucan Dive’s Home Away From Home
Cozumel was a terrific way for the Toucan Divers to get the dive season started. Illinois was cold and blustery, and the stark change of the air temperature, immediately, put our divers in the best of moods. The fact that we had a nonstop flight meant our flight time to Cozumel was only three hours and forty five minutes. So that didn’t leave a mark. Upon our arrival to Casa Del Mar, we are immediately put at ease with their warm welcome. They always treat Toucan Dive with great deference. More than once, I would hear the staff say to our divers, not only “welcome back”, but rather “Welcome home!”
Great Diving…As Usual
The diving in Cozumel is always wonderful. Warm water conditions in the low 80’s. The visibility was 100 ft +. So we had great clarity under the water. Wall diving in Cozumel has always been a favorite passion of mine. The meandering current will move you nice and slow to the north. Very relaxing and enjoyable seeing the wonderful coral walls, and beautiful fish life. Normally! The drift, this time, was more that everyone had ordered. Let me just say, the drift was a smoking E ticket ride! Some of our new divers to Cozumel got on the dive boat after making the first dive, and were just speechless. Within short order, everyone acclimated to the wild rides on these walls of Cozumel.
The Final Analysis
Cozumel is a wonderful destination that continues to deliver the goods to Toucan Dive. The wonderful Palancar Reef, with its incredible walls, beautiful fish life and coral formations, continue to draw us there. The fact that Cozumel provides all this for a very reasonable price point, continues to be a major selling feature, that keeps us coming back for a second helpin’. Check out the photos below…
