A dive assault on Nassau, Bahamas with Toucan DiveNassau Wreck Diving

The Bahamas are considered one of the best destinations in the Caribbean and Southern Atlantic.  In particular, Nassau is known for its world class wreck diving.  It is not unusual to see a wreck on just about any dive we will scuba dive! This area is one of the first to embrace the concept of sinking wrecks as artificial reefs, and it all started with the film industry. There is only one place in the world where you can dive wrecks from the James Bond movie series. The “Vulcan Bomber” from the movie Thunderball was sunk in 1964.   The remains resemble that of a “jungle gym” of pipe surrounded by beautiful coral formations.   There are many  others.  The southwest side of Nassau features more than 15 wrecks sunk or left in place after a movie production.  Toucan Divers will get to take advantage of this great opportunity.

Diving Nassau’s Beautiful Reefs And Walls

Toucan Dive’s Dive Assault 2016 will also includes some of the most beautiful reefs in our part of the hemisphere.  The reefs and walls surrounding the southwest side of Nassau are perfect for both novice and advanced divers. Divers can either stay on the top side of the wall while more advanced divers can go deeper and take a look.  With walls starting at 30 to 35 feet, there is plenty of hard and soft corals at every dive site. But don’t just look for the big stuff.  You need to slow down and  look for the smaller critters on the reef – they are everywhere!

The Big Stuff

Nassau is also more than famous for big animal underwater adventures. Pelagics – that swim and live in the water column – like sharks, turtles, dolphins and rays can be seen at almost every dive site. Caribbean Reef Sharks are abundant in the area, and there are three or four dive sites where you are guaranteed to see free-swimming sharks!
